The WebMoment glossary
The official language for understanding how WebMoment preserves visual history.
- Workspace
- The ownership boundary for every resource in WebMoment. Every Page, Collection, and Share belongs to one Workspace.
- Page
- The permanent identity of a URL inside a Workspace. A Page owns one Timeline and its history grows without changing that identity.
- Capture
- The action that creates a new Moment. A Capture is temporary; the Moment it creates is permanent.
- Moment
- The immutable historical record of a Page at a specific point in time. A Moment preserves enough context to understand that state later.
- Visual History
- The chronological record of how a Page evolves over time. It emerges from the sequence of Moments in that Page's Timeline.
- Timeline
- The complete visual history of a Page. Every new Moment extends that Timeline.
- Collection
- A logical group of Pages. Collections organize Pages without owning or changing their Timelines.
- Tracking
- A recurring Capture configuration attached to a Page. Tracking extends a Timeline over time; it is not real-time monitoring.
- Screenshot
- A visual representation of a Moment. A Screenshot shows preserved history; a Moment preserves it.
- Replay
- A navigable experience of a preserved Moment. Replay loads the archived Page in the visitor's browser and is not a video.
- Compare
- A visual comparison between exactly two Moments belonging to the same Page. Compare exists to understand how a Page evolved.
- Share
- An independent resource that publishes an existing resource through a public URL without duplicating history or transferring ownership.
